Once again, the New York Giants have triumphed over the New England Patriots and delivered a championship home to New York. What does mean for all of the web marketing companies out there? Reputation Management Needed for Capt. Schettino and Costa Cruises

As if things were not bad enough for Captain Francesco Schettino and Costa Cruises, it seems as though they are going to need to undergo some online reputation management. Schettino was the captain of the Costa Concordia; the cruise liner that crashed off the coast of the Italy. His reputation seems to be absolutely shattered by the recent events. His actions have caused problems for his employer, Costa Cruises too. Time to hire a marketing firm for some drastically needed damage control.
The Costa Concordia struck rocks near Giglio Island of the Tuscan coastline of Italy. The captain steered the ship off course into the shallow and rocky waters close to the island. While close to the island the ship collided with rocks which tore a hole in the side of the ship. The ship was eventually steered closer into shore where it began to sink turn onto its side. The maneuver to bring the vessel closer into shore was made in order to aid with the offload and rescue of the passengers aboard. It has been reported that 11 people have lost their lives in this incident and there are still between 20 and 25 people that are missing.
Reports have now surfaced that the Captain had ordered dinner for himself and a female shortly after the liner had struck the rocks. According to a cook on the cruise liner, the captain insisted on eating dinner. Not only did he enjoy dinner, but stayed for a drink and waited for the woman he was eating with to finish her dessert. The female is apparently a Costa Cruises employee, but was not part of the crew on the Costa Concordia. Schettino’s actions make it seem like he was ignorant or untroubled by what had happened to his ship.
Records of conversations between Schettino and an Italian Coast Guard official have also been released. These recordings have proven that what Schettino had claimed as his actions were in fact different than what had happened. Capt. Schettino had told the official that he had been thrown off the ship after it had rocked. Although being ordered to get back onto the ship and give the Coast Guard details about the amount of passengers on board and their state, he never got back onto the boat. Schettino severely abandoned his duties as the captain of the ship when he abandoned the ship before all passengers and crew were safely away. His actions have left several to question his character and why he was ever appointed captain by Costa Cruises.
Captain Schettino is now under house arrest and facing manslaughter, shipwreck and abandoning ship charges. The incident is currently under investigation to determine exactly what happened aboard the boat leading up to the grounding. A search is still being conducted to find the missing individuals.

Greek Bites Grill Marketing Firm Looks Good

In South Hampton, NY a brand new Greek restaurant has moved in to what many locals used to know as Meson Ole, a Mexican restaurant that had unfortunately gone out of business in 2010, and has grown very quickly in popularity. The restaurant can be reached on facebook and twitter for business. My first dinner there was amazing, I arrived with a acquaintance and the first thing I noticed was the valet attendant. The place was very busy, as I hoped since it had just recently opened, and the wait for a table was about 20 minutes. Simply being impatient, my friend and I had grabbed two seats at the gorgeous marble bar and awaited service which quickly came.
I had ordered a Greek salad with grilled chicken, one of the few Greek meals that I am familiar with, and while waiting for the food to come out I noticed the beauty that is Greek Bites. The floor is a beautiful wood, which tributes the all white tablecloths and blue decorations. Amazing paintings and pictures sit lovely on the walls and there is also a virtual fireplace that sets the mood very nicely for the dining area.
When our meals arrived my friend and I didn’t say a single word to each other because of how focused we were on our food. There was a second during our meal when we made eye contact and just started laughing at each other for being so engulfed by our meal. If you were unable to tell, my salad was delicious and it even came with a lemon and chicken soup that was equally terrific. The restaurant has been put together very nicely.
With the popularity and interest of this new restaurant continuing to grow with each passing day, it makes sense for the eatery to look into a marketing firm to handle their advertising and social media needs. I have already liked the restaurant on facebook and since the New Year, the likes continue to excel. Making Beads From Fabric

The technique of making beads from fabric involves taking scraps of material, fibers, threads, etc. and washing the bundle in the washing machine or by hand and then placing everything in the dryer where the material/fibers would get tangled. This is a fun way to use beads aside from the usual bead bracelets and necklaces.
After washing and drying, take a little amount of the tangled material, roll into a small, tight ball, pin in place to hold it all together, and then stitch the material until a tight bead was formed. Once this is done, the bead can be embellished with seed beads.
First what you do is cut some scraps of fabric into very, very thin strips. The goal is to have lots of threads dangling off the fabric. The trick is to have the material in very thin strips (as close to 1/4″ as possible.)
In place of pinning the fabric/fiber into a bead shape, you can use a temporary adhesive spray (used by quilters to hold paper pattern pieces to fabric) which will do a good job of holding the fabric pieces together while the ball is formed.
Once the bead is tightly stitched together, it might seem near impossible to get the wire through the bead, but don’t worry. Working your way around the bead, use colored thread to stitch the strips of material securely together. This way if the stitches show, you could explain it is part of the design.
After the bead is stitched tightly, you can enjoy embellishing the bead. It’s fun to use metallic threads of various colors which can be wrapped around and stitched through the bead. You can finish up by sewing little beads all around the bead. I have to admit, it can a labor-intensive project and take a some hours to complete, but the results are worth it!

Users do not want to be “challenged” when they go to a webpage; they want to find exactly what they’re looking for immediately, sooner if possible. Therefore, when you’re building a site, here are a few things you’re going to want to avoid like the plague.
PDFs: PDFs have their place; if you have forms that persons want to print out or flyers to share, use a PDF. However, if the document is meant to be read exclusively (or even mostly) online, PDFs are forbidden. PDFs can’t be searched easily, and not everyone has the software to read them. When it comes to website design, online content should be text.
Fixed Font Size: So you can’t use PDFs, but you still want to control the user’s viewing experience. Can you make the font size fixed. This is another webpage design no no. Everybody is going to look at your page on different screens, and for some, being able zoom in makes it fundamentally easier.
Images of Text: This is probably the worst webpage design snafu. Simply put: there is no reason your site design should feature a graphic of text outside of a logo. Search engines can’t read them, folk can’t copy them easily, and editing them is a pain. Simply drop it like it’s hot.
Bad or Nonexistent Search: Not every website design needs a search function; if the user can get to all your pages from your homepage, you’re probably fine. But if you have thousands pages, you better give the user a way to find what he’s looking for. Ensure the search is sophisticated enough to handle typos and that the search engine points to the right page for the results. For example, if you have a page that’s about widgets, a search for widgets should bring up your widgets page, not an endless stream of widget press releases.

Lastly, the most critical part of social media management is what I like to call Facebook PR. That is, use your Facebook to deal with problems as they arise. Are you going to be seen in the news positively? Tell people to check it out! Are you going to be found in the news negatively? Do the exact same thing; if there is bad news about you, you need to tell your side of the story.
